Artist Assistant Opportunity

Loc Hong's Studio is seeking an Artist Assistant. This is an on-site Contractor position, schedule and rate to be determined by the experience and skill level of the candidate and needs of the studio. The candidate will provide administrative and project-based support for the artist as this role is crucial to supporting an organized and productive studio environment. Open to entry-level applicants and those looking to pivot towards a more creatively-driven career path.

Administrative Duties

Client coordination
Email correspondence
Grant writing
Event planning and facilitation
Project managing

Studio Duties

Prop making and mold making
Mural painting
Gold leafing
Sign painting
Design

What to Expect

A hands-on learning environment with frequent equipment/ technique demonstrations
Working one-on-one with the artist on a variety of different projects

Qualifications

Strong written and verbal communication (without using ai)
Admin experience
Strong interest in contemporary art and/or the film industry in Chicago
Sculpture and/or painting experience
Proficiency with Adobe InDesign/Photoshop and the Google Suite. Experience with Shopify is a plus
Qualities we look for: quick learner, self-starter, organized, punctual, creative, practicing artist
